While studying overseas in Accra, Ghana at the University of Legon in 1971, we heard a group of American musicians, and artists were arriving at the airport.
Excited, a small group of us obtained permission to meet their plane and take photos.
We met the Staple Singers, Willie Bobo, Wilson Pickett, Ike, and Tina Turner, the Voices of East Harlem, Carlos Santana, Roberta Flack, even the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Once onstage, Santana’s group, and equipment got caught in the rain, but they continued the performance.
